It is quite a spectacle when the fog gradually disappears in Germany's smallest low mountain range during the winter season. When we arrived via Zittau, the mountain peaks were still shrouded in a white veil. At the end of the test run, the sun came out a little.
The organization of a sprint relay is a challenge from many points of view. It becomes even more complex from a technical point of view if a German championship is to be held in combination with a classification for foreign participants. It is therefore all the more important to test the different variants in advance.
So on Saturday morning the core of the orienteering team from Zittau and Chrastava had gathered at the Kammbaude Oybin. The goal was to try out the most diverse slope variants in order to give the technicians the opportunity to identify sources of error. Not least thanks to the experience and support from Dresden, everything went smoothly - apart from the one or other misstamp of a participant.
Afterwards, there was still enough time to enjoy delicious food and drink and to discuss many details of the event around the extended weekend to May 1, 2023.
