At the end of the 31st Saxon-Bohemian Orienteering Days we went to Zittau to the Westpark. In the immediate vicinity of Olbersdorfer See, the goal was to orienteer as quickly and safely as possible through the park area at the German Championships in the sprint relay. Narrow control point locations provided again and again for uncertainties with the runners.
The competition center, start and finish was the Westpark Stadium. In spring-like temperatures, the shorter courses led through the park area around the stadium, while the longer courses also crossed the Mandau River and ran to Olbersdorfer See Lake. On these courses, route selection decisions also had to be mastered correctly. Restricted areas had to be observed by almost all participants.
The elite classes were won by USV Jena ahead of USV TU Dresden and SV Robotron Dresden. In the overall ranking of all elite 4-person relays Oddíl OB Kotlářka set the best time.
On this day there was again a comprehensive supporting offer with children's or interested people's orienteering in the format Go4-Orienteering, which was also visited by many orienteers and locals of all ages.
After these varied days the SAXBO & DM Sprint/Sprint Relay 2023 comes to an end. We would like to thank the numerous participants and countless supporters who made this mammoth task possible. We hope that we could offer varied competitions and that we could bring you a little bit closer to the region with the diverse offers. After a few weeks of relaxation, it is then time to start planning for SAXBO 2024.
