What was normal a few years ago, is nowadays a rarity - the journey to an orienteering event by public transport. At the 31st Saxon-Bohemian Orienteering Days and the German Championships in Sprint Orienteering and Sprint Relay the car can be left at home this year. All competition venues can be reached comfortably on foot, by bus and by train.
The central hub for arriving in Zittau by train is the main station and the Neustädter station in Dresden. From there the Trilex goes to Zittau main station. Especially when traveling in groups, money can be saved again with a group ticket - so it's worth arranging it among yourselves. If you're lucky, you'll get the children's compartment on the regional train or the regional express with your little ones and can sit back and relax during the journey. Older generations can look out of the windows and experience the changes that have taken place since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
In Zittau, you are greeted by a renovated historic train station dating back to 1848. Depending on the choice of accommodation and the day of the race, the journey to the individual stages can then be made on foot or with the KVG transport company. To the national ranking run to Jonsdorf, the narrow-gauge railroad also runs, which, in addition to the buses, departs directly in front of the train station in Zittau.
For larger groups, we ask for information in the registration of the SAXBO, to coordinate the need with the KVG, if necessary.
Ps.: For relaxation, we recommend a trip to Germany's oldest preserved historic city pool. In the various pools and sauna areas of the Zittau baths, the whole family will feel like in ancient Rome.
