The Saxon-Bohemian Orienteering Days have always offered challenging competitions for numerous age groups. For this year's German Championships over the sprint distance, the scoring categories will be divided for the first time into increments of 5 for all participants over 35. After consultation, there will now also be a course for men's 85.
At the national ranking event in Jonsdorf the age category men 85 was already stated in the announcement. Sprint competitions, on the other hand, do not have such a long tradition and have so far been accepted only hesitantly by the older generations. Therefore, in the past, even in the older age groups, only classes in increments of 10 were announced. At the DM Sprint last year in Hamburg it went up to W/M 75.
From this year on, according to the competition regulations 2023, the sprint classes in the older age groups will be announced in increments of 5. By the friendly inquiry of a sports friend we decided after consultation with the federation to arrange a change of the announcement and to add the category M 85 with the German Champs Sprint. We would be pleased if other competitors would follow this example.
