Corona - SAXBO 2020

Update March 22th, 2020

Herewith we inform you that the Saxon-Bohemian Orienteering Days 2020 will definitely not take place at the beginning of May. The planning of alternative dates is in full swing.

Therefore we have analyzed the whole further season on regional, national and international level. Corresponding proposals for an alternative date have been sent to the association. After a final feedback we will go into the detailed planning again.

The current framework conditions are known to everyone. Even we cannot look into the crystal ball. Nevertheless, we have made almost all parameters flexible, so that we could have waited in the situation theoretically. Due to the border closures with the Czech Republic, with the expected short and medium-term effects, we will not only lose participants but also about 50% of the helpers. We cannot and do not want to compensate for this. At SAXBO the collective has always been in the centre of attention.

A possible new date in 2020 will probably be an event over 2 days. At the moment we are tending towards the elimination of the forest stage. Further information will be published as soon as everything is clarified.

March 19th,2020

With regard to the event, we ask you not to make any transfers at this time. As of today the competition is not yet cancelled.

We are aware that due to the Corona situation, opinions differ widely between irresponsible behaviour and irrelevant. We are in close contact with all involved persons around the city of Zittau (city / police / public order office / ...), the involved clubs (Germany / Czech Republic) and see the guidelines on other levels (federal state / country). We also have a direct line to China or Italy and various other current or former hot spots, where we daily reassess the effects of the measures taken (independent of the media coverage). Parallel to this, we are in contact with the association and are currently working on the alternative variants B, C & D. The preparatory measures are on target.

Irrespective of this, we are noticing that, for example, in social media, articles are deliberately faded out or removed, so that in the meantime we often have to resort to material in the original language, but here we can also translate the common languages relatively easily. Not only because of this we ask you to follow the given guidelines in the interest of the whole population, so that we can achieve similar positive developments as in other countries.

We will keep you up to date.
