Under ideal running conditions—with pleasant temperatures, sunshine, and blue skies—some 850 participants set off on the long-distance race below Jonsberg on Saturday. The day’s victories in the women’s and men’s main categories both went to the Czech Republic.
It was a stretch of the route from the competition center at the Kammbaude Oybin to the start of the first SAXBO stage in 2026. All participants were challenged by several uphill sections below Jonsberg and, on the longer and more difficult courses, by numerous stone and rock control points. In the women’s main class, Markéta Poloprutská managed this best, winning ahead of her clubmate Anna Fürstová (both Slavia Liberec) and Lone Constanze Pompe (Robotron Dresden). In the men’s main class, Robert Heczko (Slavia Liberec) stood at the top of the podium. He was followed by Wieland Kundisch (USV TU Dresden) and Matouš Fürst (Slavia Liberec).
A wide range of age groups competed at the start of the 34th SAXBO. From young children on a flag course to 86-year-old Tassilo Schmalfeld, who also won his age group after recently celebrating his birthday.
On Sunday, the event continues with an extended middle distance race. The competition center is once again located at the Kammbaude in Oybin. On-site, there will also be opportunities for last-minute participants and those interested
