The competition weekend for the 34th Saxon-Bohemian Orienteering Days kicked off on May 1 with an open sprint and a middle-distance race at Camp Valdek. The SAXBO competitions will take place on Saturday and Sunday in Oybin. Between 800 and 920 participants are registered for each stage.
Northwest of Rumburk, two additional competitions took place on Friday for anyone interested, with the aim of attracting even more participants to Upper Lusatia. This offered the opportunity to sprint through the camp in the morning and explore the adjacent forest area on a middle-distance course in the afternoon. The navigation and runnability proved quite challenging for many participants. To unwind, there was live music after the competition.
On Saturday and Sunday, the action moves to the mountains. In Oybin Hain, the competition center will be at the Kammbaude. For all orienteers, the course takes them through the typical rocky terrain. Spectators and interested visitors can also drop by at short notice and try their luck on a course at the competition center or in the forest, or watch the spectacle while enjoying food and drinks.
