The “Alte Leipaer Straße” map was largely remapped for the Saxon-Bohemian Orienteering Days at the beginning of May. After a few test rides, the decision was made to create an additional map for mountain bike orienteering. As a result, the first stage of this year's Saxony Cup in MTB-O was held north-east of Jonsdorf.
In the end, just over 60 participants from Germany and the Czech Republic took part. There was a wide range of participants, from world champions to MTB-O enthusiasts as well as local athletes and families who just wanted to get a taste of MTB-O.
On the longer of the 7 different routes, the riders had to fight their way up the Jonsberg right at the start. The route then continued to Bertsdorf railway station before heading back to the finish line at the Jonsdorf railway station. Due to the temperatures of the previous days, there were only a few remnants of snow to be seen off the trails, which meant that conditions were good for all participants.
During the subsequent barbecue at the competition center on the sports field in Jonsdorf, the best choice of route was eagerly discussed.
We would like to thank all participants for coming and all those responsible and helpers who made the event possible. The 33rd SAXBO will be held not far away at the beginning of May.
